Jamie McGinnis Announced as Executive Director

HCU is pleased to announce Jamie McGinnis as our new Executive Director
Jamie is joining HCU after previously holding the position of HCU Academy Director from
2010-2014.

Between 2014 and 2018, Jamie worked with the Halifax Mooseheads as Manager of Game Day
Operations and Community Relations and then with Sports & Entertainment Atlantic (S|E|A) as
their Business Operations Manager. Between those two roles, Jamie produced over 100 major
sporting events in and around the Halifax area.

In 2018, Jamie joined HFX Wanderers FC as their first employee, playing an integral role in the
Wanderers integration into the Halifax community, leading the establishment of the Wanderers
Brand, Marketing, and Sales departments, as well as their Game Day Presentation.

In 2020, Jamie ventured into an entrepreneurial startup in the logistics industry, where they built
and recently sold their storage business ExpressVaults.

Jamie grew up in Norton, New Brunswick. He played his club soccer out of Fundy United, of
Saint John, NB. He continued his playing career with Saint Mary's University from 2004-2009,
winning 2 AUS titles during his time. Shortly after, he joined HCU club soccer where he
continues to play in the 035 division.

Jamie began his coaching career at the age of 19 and has not stopped since. He is now on to
his 19th year as a Head Coach in progressive roles, currently entering his sixth season as Head
Coach of the University of King's College (UKC) men's soccer program.

UKC has enjoyed success under his tenure as a perennial ACAA championship contender with
a record of 33-13-14. Jamie has also been awarded 2 ACAA Coach of the Year awards during
his time and holds a National B coaching license.

A word from Jamie:
Hello, HCU players and families,

I am thrilled to be back at HCU, it feels very much like a homecoming. There are many familiar
names; coaches, and upper youth age players that I look forward to reconnecting with, and I
can't wait to meet everyone else.

When you see me around the field please do not hesitate to tap me on the shoulder and
introduce yourself. My aim is to get out to meet each team in the next 2 weeks.

Over the next 2 months, My main focus will be on club operational improvements and program
quality assessments that will set the stage for improved spring and summer seasons.

One of our core Operating Principles will be to Improve every season. Improve our Operations,
our Player & Coach development programs, our Membership Experience etc..

As we look to quickly improve our programming, we also want to grow. Re-establish healthy
summer camp programs in each community, and grow our important auxiliary programs. We
also want to build partnerships within our catchment area, and look for opportunities to give
back to the communities who support us!

We have lots to do, but it all starts with our players' experience and supporting our Coaches and
Team Managers. They are the ones spending countless hours planning and delivering quality
experiences for our players and families.

In the next 2 weeks, we will be setting up an HCU Facebook group where I will periodically ask
questions that will help with various club decisions. If you are interested in helping HCU get to a
standard and would like to engage in the process, email me at jamie@hcusoccer.ca with your
name as presented on Facebook and I will send an invite.

A word from HCU's Board of Directors:
On behalf of our members, we would like to welcome Jamie to the HCU Family!

HCU President Richard Maclellan will be sitting down with Jamie next week for a Q&A to get to
know him a bit more, and discuss the future vision of HCU.

If you have a question you would like to add, please email president@hcusoccer.ca.
