How can you choose? Canada national men’s soccer teams rise to the World Cup has been particularly exciting! Vacation spot: anywhere in nature (recently visited Costa Rica’s “Cloud Forest” which I really enjoyed) Sports teams: HFX Wanderers FC, Toronto FC, Chelsea Jamie has been coaching competitive soccer for 19 years, has his National B License, and currently is the Head Coach of University of King’s College men’s soccer program. He previously worked with HCU from 2010-2014 as their Academy Director, and after an 8 year hiatus where Jamie worked in progressive Sports Management and Entrepreneurial roles. Jamie rejoined HCU in 2023 as the club’s Executive Director, where he is responsible for the successful leadership, overall management, and operations of the club. |

Email: shinji@hcusoccer.ca | Hometown: Utsunomiya, Tochigi, Japan University/College: University of King’s College Soccer position: Right/left wing & Full back Vacation spot: My home town (Japan)/Cape Breton Sports teams: Brighton Shinji has been a part of HCU since 2019 January as a part-time coach and has been playing soccer for 19 years. He played for the University of King’s College for 4 years and graduated with a Bachelor of science with a major in economics. Shinji is also on the coaching staff at the University of King's College with Executive Director of HCU Jamie McGinnis. He has completed all the community courses and holds a C-License. He started as a mini-program coach as a university student and has gained experiences to allow him to lead a successful mini-program. As well as Shinji's responsibility with the mini-program Shinji has been a coach of the U18AA boys team with HCU this winter. |

Email: mike@hcusoccer.ca | Hometown: Rotherham, England University/College: University of Birmingham/Dalhousie University Soccer position: Played Goalkeeper but always wanted to be a striker Sports memory: Winning a national university Championship with Dalhousie in 1995 Vacation spot: Malta - went there when I was 10 with my family and grand parents Sports teams: Barnsley FC, Halifax Wanderers, Nashville FC and Wrexham FC As a youth player played with Swinton Boys until the age of 15. Spent some time at the Sheffield United Academy. Upon High School, graduation played semi-pro for Alvechurch, Boldmere St Michael and Stratford Town. Came to Canada in 1994 to pursue a Masters in Kinesiology and played for the Dalhousie Tigers between 1994-1996. Mike is the former Technical Director at Dunbrack SC, Assistant coach at Saint Mary's, High Performance Director Saskatchewan Soccer, Technical Director at Soccer NS. Since 2011, worked as a Sports Consultant for the Province and coached all my kids as they came up through the County program. Love to see players reach their full potential as athletes and people. Blessed to be able to help shape future players and coaches at HCU. Mike holds a National B license in Canada, UEFA B in England. Currently completing the CSA A license. |

![]() | Hometown: Port Moody, British Columbia University: Brock University Soccer Position: Winger Sports memory: Playing 2 years up in a baseball tournament, being undersized for my own age and playing a game that won me game MVP against bigger and older kids. Vacation spot: Banff was my favourite trip of all time. Staying in a great room with a bunch of friends and getting to snowboard Lake Louise was an incredible experience. Sports teams: Seattle Mariners, Vancouver Canucks, Vancouver Whitecaps, Swansea FC, Halifax Wanderers FC Reilly has been working in sports since he was 15 years old when he was a ticket taker at the Vancouver Canadians Baseball Club. Since then he has worked in ticketing and administrator with the Canadians and locally with the Halifax Thunderbirds Lacrosse team before joining HCU. Reilly is still new to HCU and has been loving learning and meeting all the club members. He joined the club this past June in 2022 and has been working on the administrative side of the club where he is responsible for club communications, registrations and member services. He is looking forward to continuing to learn and grow with HCU and all of its members. |
