Merger Letter to Members

Merger Update

Last month HCU announced an intent to merge with Bedford Soccer Association.  Since that time, Bedford Soccer Association has changed course after determining that it did not have a mandate within its Board or membership to go forward with this merger.  After reassessing its plans, Bedford Soccer Association is moving in a different direction to pursue a merger within its own district.

While we were disappointed, we want our members to know that HCU programming continues as normal with the summer season in full start-up mode over the next few weeks.  To date, our player registrations for the season are up over previous years and the Board and staff continue work on the requirements for Club Licensing.  It's business as usual at HCU.

Leading up to consideration of a merger, HCU's Board of Directors spent time exploring a number of different options and engaging in various discussions, with a mindset that a merger could be an opportunity for the Club but not a necessity.  Our members clearly showed their support for these efforts.  The potential for a merger may arise again in the future, however, it is not an initiative that the Board will focus on at this time.
